On October 17th the Portland High School Advanced Choir will share “An Evening of Folk Songs” with the Portland community at the Temple Theatre. The performance will include choral renditions of songs that have stood the test of time as they’ve been passed down from generation to generation in England, Ireland, and America.”
The choir is a select group of students who have shown a high level of vocal technique and music literacy skills through audition. During their tenure in advanced choir, students perform a variety of choral music across multiple styles and time periods, sing holiday favorites in the annual “Festive Fine Arts Showcase”, and join the Portland High School Theatre group in producing a stage musical. The group also has the honor of celebratory singing for special occasions such as PHS graduation.
